Slice of Life 2025 - En español

I'm learning Spanish for several reasons, but the main one is so I can communicate better with the students at the dual language immersion school where I now work. My reading and speaking skills are pretty much at the Elephant and Piggie level right now.

Thinking and writing in Spanish takes an enormous amount of brain power and it is painfully slow, but it is a great reminder of what the students are experiencing. Here's my attempt to write in Spanish.

A picture of several characters by Mo Willems - the pigeon, Elephant & Piggie and Knufflebunny. It says libros en español and hola.

Aprendiendo español no es fácil, pero Elefante y Cerdita me ayudan. Soy bibliotecaria en una escuela primaria. Me gusta leer mucho los libros de Mo Willems. Los libros son muy divertido y tienen palabras fáciles.

The book Viva Frida by Yuyi Morales shows a doll that looks like friday kahlo.

Yuyi Morales es una excelente autora también. Sus libros son tan hermosos. Me gusta leer sus libros con mis estudiantes.

A large cross section of an orange is centered and the title Slice of Life is on it. The address for The Two Writing Teachers wordpress blog is also there in small print.

  1. I love your Spanish 💙. My transition to read Adult fiction books in English was by reading first lots of children's books. Yo también soy bibliotecaria 😍📚
