It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. Jen Vincent over at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee Moye from Unleashing Readers decided to put a children's and YA spin on it and they invite anyone with an interest to join in. You can participate by creating your post then visit one of their sites to add your site. Finally, visit at least three participant blogs and comment to spread the love.

If you want to know more about what I am reading, visit me at my Goodreads shelf. Images via Goodreads unless otherwise noted.

Last Week on the Blogs:

Nine of my favorite Young Adult books from 2015

Last Week in Books:
I have an out of town guest and I read many books, so I will just post one favorite YA read this week and one favorite book from children's lit. Again, see my Goodreads shelf for a complete list.

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes #1) by Sabaa Tahiris a fantastic fantasy that I tore through on audio.

In Mary's Garden by Tina and  Carson Kugler was fascinating. I loved learning about Mary and her unique sculptures and her way of seeing. It's also great that she lived in Wisconsin.

Next Week:
These are the books I'm currently reading and I just downloaded the audio of Hurt Go Happy. I'm not sure what else I will get to. I hope you have a great week of reading.

  1. I should look into that one about Caldecott art. I'll be eager to see what you think about it. Here's my week. Happy reading!

  2. I don't read many YA series, but my husband does, and I've heard great things about Ember, so that's the one I chose for him for Xmas. I loved In Mary's Garden too. Such a unique story!

  3. Oh, I'd be interested in hearing about "Growing Up Filipino", we have a large Filipino population in my community, and it's not a culture I know that much about. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

  7. I really loved More Happy Than Not. Somehow I ended up ordering a copy for my elementary school library. I think it will have to go on the shelf for my grade sevens. I'm not unhappy about this purchase anyway. I think I'd love to borrow a copy of the Caldicott book. I just put a hold on Ember in the Ashes as an audiobook.
