Kellee Moye, of Unleashing Readers, and Jen Vincent, of Teach Mentor Texts decided to give It's Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children's literature - picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit - join us! We love this meme and think you will, too. We encourage everyone who participates to visit at least three of the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and leave comments for them.
If you want to know more about what I've been reading, visit my Goodreads shelf.
We finally moved into our new house. We are loving it, but are exhausted and are short on time. I haven't done an update for a few weeks. I also missed the #MustReadin2017 update in the chaos. Here are the posts that happened in the meantime and a few screenshots of what I've been reading in between packing, cleaning and unpacking.
Last Two Weeks On the Blogs:
Review of Piecing Me Together on Rich in Color
Last Two Weeks in Books:
I just started reading Radio Silence and I will likely read One Last Word by Nikki Grimes.
Reading Challenge Updates:
Goodreads Challenge 2017 - 175/550
Diversity on the Shelf 2017 - 91/225 (goal = 50% of my books by and/or about POC)
LGBTQIA Challenge - 9/30
#OwnVoices Challenge - 51/125
#MustReadin2017 - 14/24
Nonfiction Picture Book Challenge - 39/100
Good luck in your new house. Thanks for the book recommendations!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We're loving the house.
DeleteI hope you'll have great reading experiences at your new house.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have four different really cozy spots for reading. :)
DeleteI'm amazed that you managed to get that much reading done while packing! I loved Amina's voice!
ReplyDeleteI took lots of breaks. ;)
DeleteBest wishes in your new home, so exciting, but yes, exhausting too. You have some books on the list I have, and need to read! I just got The Blue Songbird at the library, will read Flying Lessons soon, I hope! Have a great week, Crystal!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really loved Amina's Voice, Flying Lessons and Piecing Me Together, but many of the others were also lovely.
DeleteEven with the chaos, you're busy reading! I can't wait to get to Piecing Me Together. Amina's Voice is one of my favorites of the year.
ReplyDeleteYes, the reading keeps me calm in the chaos.
DeleteMoving is exciting, but holy moly, is it ever exhausting! I've been in my current home since 2009, and I'm not in any mood to move anytime soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to Amina's Voice!
Yes, exhausting is an excellent description.
DeleteCongratulations on surviving the move Crystal. Will you have more room for bookshelves?
ReplyDeleteI loved Flying Lessons and am looking forward to Piecing Me Together and Amina's Voice.
I am taking the opportunity to highlight books more in the house. Our bookshelves were mostly in bedrooms before. Now more are out in public spaces. :)
