First grade students can have way more energy than I can match, but they can also deliver a lot of joy and delight. I'm thankful that I end the week with first graders. No matter what the week was like and no matter how tired my body and brain may feel, they help send me to the weekend with a smile.
I hope that I too am giving them smiles and a happy note to end the school week. It seems pretty mutual. We sing together, read together, and laugh a lot. They are also some of my best Spanish tutors. They are often helping me learn new vocabulary or how to say something in a better way. It's my first year at a dual-immersion Spanish and English school and my learning curve is pretty intense. There are three classes full of first graders though that are incredibly helpful teachers.
It's been a school year full of learning for all of us together. I'm learning the school and library and so so many names in addition to adding more and more Spanish to my life. For next Friday, I'll try to write my blog post in Spanish. I'm saying it now so I will actually do it. It would be a challenge, but I believe it is doable.
Great way to end the week! I could use some of that first grade energy about now. Great for promising to write in Spanish next week. That accountability piece is powerful.
