It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. Jen Vincent over at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee Moye from Unleashing Readers decided to put a children's and YA spin on it and they invite anyone with an interest to join in. You can participate by creating your post then visit one of their sites to add your site. Finally, visit at least three participant blogs and comment to spread the love.

If you want to know more about what I am reading, visit me at my Goodreads shelf. Cover images via Goodreads unless otherwise noted.

Last Week in Books:

I'm running off to Minneapolis to pick up our exchange student so I won't thoroughly review the books, but really enjoyed Save Me a Seat, Maxi's Secrets and Monsoon Diary. I had mixed feelings about the new Harry Potter book. Gifts, was interesting, but not enthralling.

The Coming Week:
I'm still listening to A Long Walk to Freedom by Mandela. I just started reading the ARC of Jacqueline Woodson's newest book which is for adults. Since our exchange student is arriving today, my reading will likely slow down. Have a great week!

  1. I always dreamed about being an exchange student when I was growing up, it sounded so exciting (except I was terminally shy, so it probably would've been a nightmare....). Have fun showing your new student around!

  2. I am not a crazy J. K. Rowling fan like everyone else, but I am enjoying hearing everyone chat about the new book! I hope you have a wonderful week, Crystal! :)

  3. Hope the trip is good, Crystal. How fun to have an exchange student. You of others are sharing Maxi's Secrets. I think I'd better find it!

  5. I want to read Save Me A Seat and Max--I need to get them :)
I loved HP, but I know that others had mixed feelings.

Happy reading this week, and have fun with your exchange student--looking forward to hearing more.

    Happy reading this week :)

  6. My daughter is reading the new HP - I think I may not lay eyes on it for a while.

  7. Oh, some familiar books that I enjoyed, too! I am looking forward to sharing Maxi's Secrets with students. I liked Save Me a Seat a lot, too. I may offer it as a book club book with my 5th graders this year.

One of my former students stopped by to lend my The Cursed Child. I have yet to start, but soon!

  8. I have yet to read Ursula LeGuin's novels - hopefully I get to sink my teeth into them this year.

  9. I just picked up the audiobook of Gifts. I haven't read any Le Guin for a while and was actually hoping to listen to The Wizard of Earthsea but alas, it wasn't available in that format. I am really looking forward to Save me a Seat.
