It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. It's a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now...you just might discover your next “must-read” book!

Kellee Moye, of Unleashing Readers, and Jen Vincent, of Teach Mentor Texts decided to give It's Monday! What Are You Reading? a kidlit focus. If you read and review books in children's literature - picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, anything in the world of kidlit - join us! We love this meme and think you will, too. We encourage everyone who participates to visit at least three of the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and leave comments for them.

If you want to know more about what I've been reading, visit my Goodreads shelf.

On the Blog:

Last 2 Weeks in Books (I was at a conference last weekend):

My favorites were:
Out of Wonder - a great collection of poems inspired by famous poets
Sachiko - a narrative non-fiction account of the bombing of Nagasaki
Rad Women Worldwide - a non-fiction biography collection highlighting a diverse group of women
Flowers for Sarajevo - an account of a bombing in Sarajevo & the musician who honored the victims through music
The Holy Tortilla and a Pot of Beans - a fun Latina short story collection

The Coming Week:
I just started On the Edge of Gone and have several lined up for my Spring Break, but I am packing up my house to move down the road to a smaller house, so I'm not sure how much I will get to read. I wish you a great week!

  1. Moving does have a frustrating way of getting in the way of everything, including reading! ;-)

    1. Yes it sure complicates life for a while, but it's worth it to have a smaller and more convenient place. :)

  2. Ah, but moving to a smaller place is a great idea! I have a condo all picked out as soon as my girls can take all of their stuff! Rad Women Worldwide is definitely one I need to look for!

    1. We're looking forward to less to take care of, but we do have a basement storage area because our kiddos still have things they're not ready to part with or take somewhere else. ;)

  3. I appreciated your blog post on Women's History Month. I've read many of those titles, and given a number away to young women in my family. I have Here We Are in a pile of books that I hope to get to in the next couple of months or so.
Moving is good. We downsized a couple of years ago, but still didn't get rid of enough stuff. It's hard work, so good luck. Thankfully, there are audiobooks to listen to as you work.

    1. I've been listening to some podcasts, but am also planning on getting a few books in on audio this week too. I've been looking forward to downsizing for a while so it's a happy kind of work.

  4. Moving is a big deal, hope it goes well, Crystal! I'm hoping to get to those you showed as your favorites, have a few, will get the others. I enjoyed The Only Road, but it was sad. Have an exciting week with the move!
