It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. Jen Vincent over at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee Moye from Unleashing Readers decided to put a children's and YA spin on it and they invite anyone with an interest to join in. You can participate by creating your post then visit one of their sites to add your site. Finally, visit at least three participant blogs and comment to spread the love.

If you want to know more about what I am reading, visit me at my Goodreads shelfImages via Goodreads unless otherwise noted.

**In an effort to get enough sleep tonight, I am basically just listing the books that I read without a lot of commentary.

Previous Week:

The standouts for the week were Caminar (I will review this one on Rich in Color later this week), Music Everywhere, and the Selected Poems of Langston Hughes. My students adored Mi Familia Calaca. All were enjoyable though in their own ways.

The Coming Week:
Reading With My Ears

Reading With My Eyes

I just got the ARCs of The Great Green Heist and Chufki Rabbits Big, Bad Bellyache and will likely read them this week. I also have a pile of books from the library as usual. I wasn't able to get to the Geisel Award books this week, but at this point in the challenge, all of the books from here on out are a complete repeat. I am not sure if I will continue the challenge with everything else I am juggling. If I can fit it in though I will read those too. Have a great week of reading!

  1. I'm tempted to read When You Were Here, but I'm debating a boycott of MG and YA titles where one or more parents are dead. Enough is enough.

    1. That is probably a good boycott. Funny because this afternoon I picked up Jimi and Me - another dead parent there. I have had quite a few of them recently.

  2. You've reminded me that I need to read my copy of The Fire Chronicle. My Familia Calaca looks like a ton of fun. Hope your week is the best.

    1. I am enjoying The Fire Chronicle. That Calaca family is really fun - especially the pets.

  3. Selected Poems by Langston Hughes is one of my favorite poetry collections of all time. Hughes is one of the most brilliant poets that ever lived.

  7. I read both The Emerald Atlas and The Fire Chronicle aloud to my children. We are waiting for the third title which is taking forever and then some to be published!

  8. Mi Familia Calaca looks like it would be grat to pair up with Cinderella Skeleton! This is such a fantabulous list Crystal, I am amazed by your reading over the past week. I hope to get my hands on Not My Girl too soonest. I own a copy of the Gregory Maguire novel, but perhaps it will be awhile before I get back to the Maguire bandwagon, and I think I have a complete set here at home of that series. :)
