It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. Jen Vincent over at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee Moye from Unleashing Readers decided to put a children's and YA spin on it and they invite anyone with an interest to join in. You can participate by creating your post then visit one of their sites to add your site. Finally, visit at least three participant blogs and comment to spread the love.

I get the cover images from Goodreads and if you would like to see reviews, you may visit me there. I was out of town for over a week, so this will simply be a list of covers without comments since I read many titles over the two weeks.

The Past Two Weeks:

Graphic Novels for #Bookbootcamp

Young Adult Audio

Young Non-fiction

Poetry

Early Chapter Book

Picture Books

The last two images were from Amazon since pictures weren't available on Goodreads. They are great books that I read at the American Indian Studies Summer Institute. I had to run out and buy Mama's Little One. It came highly recommended by a high school student who grew up reading it.

The Coming Week:
I am reading Adventures in Graphicalistening to Days of Blood and Starlight, and am reading an ARC of Robin McKinley's Shadows. I am almost finished with the audio due to the extensive driving I have been doing recently so I should be finishing that this week along with the others. Unraveled is sitting in my living room taunting me and I will likely pick it up this week. I also have a bunch of ARCs I want to get to like The Dream Thieves, If I Ever Get Out of Here, Open Mic, and From Norvelt to Nowhere. It should be a great week of reading. What will you be reading?

  1. This is quite a list. Thanks for sharing the non-fiction titles. I had not heard of any of them. They all sound interesting, especially the one about Einstein.

    1. I've been trying to get to more non-fiction and they were some good ones. :)

  2. Whew! I've been slacking. I was disappointed that I Could Pee on This was a little to vulgar to include in a middle school library. Not great poetry, but at least funny. I also enjoyed I Could Chew on This, but won't buy it either.

    1. Yes, I mostly read it because I spent time with my sister and her cats earlier this summer. I am not a cat person. My teen loved it. The poetry is okay, but yes, very funny. ;)

  3. Enjoy Days of Blood and Starlight! It's a little heartbreaking and a lot amazing! Jealous of Dream Thieves, but I am holding out for the audio. Have a great week!

    1. Yes, Days of Blood and Starlight has been one sad moment after another and just when I thought things were turning around, it got even worse. I still have hope though.

  4. I can't wait to read No Monkeys, No Chocolate. Just preordered it. I just finished The Dream Thieves and loved it. I am seeing rave reviews everywhere for The Story of Fish and Snail. Love your nonfiction list!

    1. Thanks Carrie. No Monkeys, No Chocolate was cute & did a good job showing cause and effect - how things are related. Looking forward to Dream Thieves!

    1. I have to make an effort to gather up non-fiction. I am hoping one day it won't feel so much like eating my vegetables.

  6. Hi Crystal, you weren't kidding when you said you read loads of books! I am intrigued by the true diary of a part-time indian - i hear mixed reviews about it. i've also been reading a lot about on a beam of light, hopefully we have that soon in our libraries here. :) thanks for sharing all these lovelies.

    1. The Sherman Alexie book is really worth the time. It gets fussed about sometimes because it is a male teen and he discusses something he does while looking at pictures of nice looking women. That is a few sentences in the book and there is so much more to it than that. For one thing it manages to be humorous in the midst of some heartbreaking stuff. Anyway, it's one of my all-time favorite YA books.

  7. I can't wait to read Alexie's book . . . it's been on my radar forever. Great on audio? It's set very near where I grew up. Odd Duck is fantastic, isn't it? And ON A BEAM OF LIGHT is on the hold list at the library.

    1. I loved Alexie's book both ways. I think the audio is a good way to hear the speech pattern that the main character refers to - the sing-song sound of it. My teen daughter said it was annoying though. She may not be the best judge as she doesn't like audiobooks as a rule. Odd Duck is pretty fantastic! I liked On a Beam of Light, but picture book bios are tricky. It's hard to fit a lot of info in there. I felt like I barely got the gist of him & wanted a lot more. It is a good gist though.
